I’ll be the first to amidst, as soon as those Halloween decorations come down – my Christmas planner comes out. Call me a big kid but I just love the whole vibe, the gift planning, cookie baking, fairy lights…. bring it on. One of my favourite ways to create a little festive vibe on a cold dark evening is to create a yummy Christmas cocktail to sip on whilst cooking up something delish to curl up on the sofa with or share with friends.
However, when it comes to cocktails – the ingredient lists can often be overwhelming – and the drinks over complicated. For busy mum’s just like myself, what we really want is some simple Christmas cocktails that are indulgent and yummy to help kick off some festive cheer.
With that in mind I wanted to create my go too list of Top 6 simple Christmas cocktails which will become your firm favourites over the festive season. Enjoy them when your welcoming guest to a little Christmas get together, whilst wrapping gifts or even in a much needed bubble bath when you need a little break from your growing to do list! Enjoy!
1. The Christmas Cosmo
To channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw this delicious slice of festive glam never fails to disappoint.
You will need:
1 part / shot Vodka (best from the freezer)
2 parts / shots of Cranberry & Pomegranate juice
1/2 part / shot of orange liqueur. Grand Marnier is fine here but my personal fave for this occasion is this Blood Orange & Cranberry liqueur from Cranes
1/2 part / shot of fresh lime juice
Shake over ice in a cocktail shaker (or pitcher if you are serving a crowd) and pour straight into a cold glass. Feel free to garnish with some orange zest.
2. Adults only Hot Chocolate!
After a long day of Christmas shopping and gift wrapping, this mug of gloriousness is all you’ll need to curl up on the sofa with under a blanket.

You will need:
1 x shot of spiced rum
1 x cup of milk of your choice (Oat is great for it’s creamy texture)
4-6 squares of good quality dark, or white (whichever you prefer) Chocolate
Pinch of cinnamon and ground ginger
Whipped cream
Melt the chocolate into the milk over a low heat with the spices (you can use a cinnamon stick here if you prefer). Add the rum and mix. Enjoy in your favourite mug garnished with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings mmmmm.
3. No stress Christmas bling fizz
This is the perfect easy stress free simple Christmas cocktails or aperitif to serve your guests as they arrive, or enjoy whilst you are prepping the Christmas dinner! For super simply entertaining – arrange the liqueurs on a tray for your guests to pour and select themselves.
You will need:
A pack of festive coffee flavoured liqueurs (you can purchase these from most coffee chains) such as this one from Monin.
Prosecco or Champagne.

Simply add a teaspoon of syrup to a champagne flute and top with your chosen fizzy! Delicious stress free festiveness in a glass.
4. Festive Negroni
This (rather strong fyi) glass of gorgeous red liquid packs a powerful punch! Perfect to share with your significant other during a crazed Christmas eve evening of arranging presents, decking the halls, and prepping vegetables for the big lunch. Cosy up together with a glass of this and feel the Christmas spirit, literally.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and mix:
1 part Campari
1 part Gin
1 part Sweet red Vermouth
1 part freshly squeezed blood orange juice and a small sprinkle of the zest
Shake enthusiastically and pour, cheers!

5. Pomegranate Festive Fizzer
A good one for pre food at a Christmas dinner with friends – this is a bright festive looking cocktail to get your party into full swing. Failing that it’s also wonderful in a bubble bath when you’re enjoying a little Christmas me-time with your favourite book! For a kid friendly party version simply swap out the prosecco / champagne for lemonade.
Simply mix:
1 part gin
1 part freshly squeezed pomegranate juice
a pinch of orange zest
add a shot to a flute and top with Prosecco or Champagne (or lemonade for little ones). Yum.
6. Amaretto Cherry Cheer
A personal fave, perfect for a Christmas night in with girlfriends. A bottle of amaretto is an essential part of your store cupboard over Christmas for desserts or adding to champagne. Don’t fail to to make this delicious drink when you have a bottle knocking about your kitchen!
Simply mix
A shot of spiced rum
Half a shot of Amaretto
Top with Fentimans cherry cola and enjoy over ice. You’re welcome. Feel free to garnish with some cherries on the side of the glass.
